Over the years as I was growing up, I had the good fortune to have passed on to me by my grandfather and father a wide range of traditional skills necessary to function as a market gardener. Some of these are not plant related but were necessary to keep the infrastructure of a small business going without incurring the costs of a stream of tradesmen. My ambition for this area of the website is to build up a series of pages on traditional growing techniques practiced by market gardeners in the early 20th Century as passed on to me.
